Sonoran Sunrise

I have been on the hunt for a bulk buy of Sonora Sunrise (aka Sonora Sunset) since we opened. I could normally only find them in single designer cabs, very small lots, or not great quality stones. Make sure to grab some because I?m not sure if I will ever be able to get some more. The stone was found in Sonora, Mexico in 2006, most of it was mined around 2011, and the mine officially closed in 2019. The mine produced collector and museum quality copper specimens like azurite, chrysocolla, malachite and then this amazing combination of chrysocolla and chalcotrichite, the brilliant orange variety of cuprite. Sometimes you will see small amounts of black tenorite or iron oxide run through the cabs making it look more like a landscape piece. I hope you love this stone as much as I do because I?m so psyched!
